President’s Patter – June
Published on 26th May 2023 in Members NewsWith the upcoming South West Open and the recent Centenary Cup our Club is entering a very busy June.
The course is in fantastic condition and it is particularly pleasing to see that the suppression of kikuyu on the Course has been an ongoing success. Alan Grist as Director of Grounds has been tireless in the background aided by our Sod Skwod and Course Super Dave and his team have continued their great work in presenting a magnificent course in the lead up to the SWO.
I would like to thank in advance those members who have volunteered their time to assist over the SWO weekend, this is always greatly appreciated and plays a vital role in making sure the event runs smoothly.
None of these events can of course get off the ground without careful planning and our GM Des has been busily coordinating the efforts of his team with the usual outstanding contributions from our Functions and Events Manager Tanya Brennan and Bar Manager Ross Kirby.
Our new chef Karlie has certainly hit the ground running and if you haven’t had the opportunity to say ‘hello’ please do make the time to introduce yourself to her.
I was in attendance at the Club on Friday the 26th to be part of welcoming a number of new members to the Club in our ‘Putt and Pint’ session and I take this opportunity to welcome them to BGC and hope that their membership is a long and happy association with our Club.
It has been a particular source of satisfaction to have completed the new 5 Year Strategic Plan and to get this out to members for feedback before being ratified by the Board. This has been a very worthwhile exercise which has taken considerable time and effort but which, I believe, will support the steady growth of the Club over coming years.
I look forward to seeing many of you on the Course in coming weeks and wish you happy golfing throughout June.
