President Report September 2017
Published on 6th September 2017 in Members NewsTo all Members,
With the start of September, we are looking forward to the weather improving little by little. The fine weather golfers will be returning in droves soon enough, winter certainly tests out your commitment to golf! A huge thank you to those golfers that choose not to play but still continue to come up for a drink especially on Friday nights with our members draw now over $1000.
You will have noticed the GUR on #9 and the discolouration of the green. That green is being replaced immediately after the coring on 11th Sept. More detailed information can be found by reading Dave’s Diary August 10th Edition. Daniel Tylor, Dave and his team have a solid program of work in front of them and Daniel and Dave’s explanations keep all members well informed.
Good luck to all competitors in the upcoming Club Championships. This event is most probably the most sought after and prestigious a club golfer can win so best of luck.
Congratulations to all our pennant sides that represented our club over the winter months. Once again representing your club in a team’s event is a special thing and I know all players took great pride and enjoyed their team successes. The growth of interest in pennants has been fantastic to see and thank you to all the organisers, managers and players for your efforts this year.
The Club Upgrade is progressing well. The completion of Stage 1 is on track for early October and at that stage work on the Ladies and Men’s change rooms, offices, Meeting Room, Match Office, new entry and Disabled toilets will be finished. Stage 1 is very close to budget although we had to spend more on the pad in the men’s ablutions and redo some of the pipe work. The feedback we have received from the parts completed so far has been very positive. I must also thank Des and Libby for the extra work required in this transition phase from fitting out the Ladies Change rooms through to the moving of our operations areas and on the spot decision making. A special mention must also go to Ned Golem and Peter Martinson for the commitment and man hours they have put in assisting with final various projects within the clubhouse upgrade.
Work on Stage 2 will commence most probably in November but we will provide more information when it comes to hand. Some of our Open events, the Castieau Classic and Australia Day Classic will be affected to some degree by Stage 2 works but we will work with the builder and endeavour to minimise the impact
By now you will have received your Membership Renewal information detailing your fees. The rise in fees approximates CPI increases of around 2% and the levy has been retained. If possible please take the opportunity to pay early and hence qualify to be in the draw for the main prizes. The Members Draw night on 6th October promises to see a packed night in our clubhouse and remember you have to be there to win the other prizes on offer. I must thank Mandi for the work that she is doing around our club, not only in attracting new members through the various initiatives she engineers but also for the excellent work she does on our Facebook page. If you do see new members please make them feel welcome and have a game with them.
As a Board, we welcome all feedback. Please feel free to save the following link and use the SUGGESTION BOX e-mail address which is suggestionbox@bunburygolfclub.com.au to pass on your thoughts. Each suggestion will be responded too.
