Pink Fundraising Day

BCCWA Certificate of Appreciation 2024 – Bunbury Golf Club

What a wonderful day our Wednesday Golf Pink Day turned out to be with wonderful weather and pink everywhere.

We raised $1200 with $900 being donated to Breast Cancer Care WA and $300 to Knitted Knockers.

Breast Cancer Care WA a State organization providing support services for all WA women and men who have had a breast cancer diagnosis. Support services are vital to help ease the anxiety from emotional and financial stress.

Breast Cancer Care WA were able to provide access to one of their counsellors and set up a Metastatic Breast Cancer Support Group here in Bunbury in 2020. Metastatic -Stage 4 – is when the cancer has spread from the breast to other parts of the body and has a much lower rate of survival. This diagnosis can be very drastic and isolating and through BCCWA they were able to facilitate setting up this local group which meets once a month at Dots Place Cancer Centre to allow members to share their stories, worries and emotions, feedback on treatments and to not just feel alone on their journey, and able to face the world with a bit more of a braver face. From them we thank you.

On a lighter note, we also donated $300 to Knitting Knockers a new group getting under way in our local area.  And yes! they knit knockers. Lovely soft bra inserts as an alternative to the heavy molded breast prosthetics available. Offering the knockers free of charge to those who have had a mastectomy or two, the money will help them purchase the cotton thread and filling for its team of knitters.

THANK YOU to all our participant for enhancing the atmosphere of the day and your generous support of the fundraising.

Following that, the Committee have agreed to add the day into the 2025 programme, possibly with a ‘shot-gun’ start to bring everyone in together at the same time. So don’t go giving away your pink tu-tu’s and hats just yet.

Thank you all.
