Club financial position update

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Board, Finance Committee and Staff Management Team have been extremely diligent and accountable in reducing the club’s financial footprint and daily overheads. Various cashflow forecast models have been regularly reviewed and updated through the many changes as they occurred. All permanent staff and casual staff have been financial impacted and must be commended for their commitment long term to ensure the Club re-opens in a positive position to enable the Club to continue to develop and invest in capital projects planned.

The Club has been able to retain 16 of 34 staff on the Government Jobkeeper support program plus also receive other stimulus payments available due to the impacts of COVID 19. Currently we are advised that this support will continue through to September 2020.

Initial cash flow forecasts under full long-term closure where completed from the outset which may have seen staff levels reduce to as low as two. Thanks to industry stakeholders, member support and commitment from staff we are in a much stronger position today which has enabled us to complete various projects during this period which would not normally have been possible during this time of the year.

We have been very fortunate to be able to continue to play golf while other sports have been prohibited resulting in a spike of new members and golf retail sales with more than 50 new members joining since April 1st this year. With the Bar reopening this weekend and our cashflow models being based on the Bar remaining shut, this will inject much needed income into the club.

Our current Cash flow forecast for this financial year has the club situated in a unique position of being more than $75,000 above the budgeted position. Whilst the situation remains very fluid to change and with the current economy unstable this will continue to be monitored daily with a very conservative approach.

Personally, I would like to thank the Board, Finance Committee and all the Staff for their support and commitment during these times. So please enjoy a drink with your playing partners at the bar and say hello to some other casual staff returning over the next week or so who have been waiting for this day to come!
