Captain’s Report – 14 June 2017
Published on 23rd June 2017 in Women's NewsThe course is looking fantastic at the moment – the ground staff have done a great job in preparing the course for the SW Open and we all share in the benefits of all their hard work.
Daniel Tylor has confirmed that there are a number of areas that will receive attention in the development plan this year. They will be re developing the 1st tee, in conjunction with the upgrade to the front of the club house. Grounds are also looking to attend to #12 tee as well the Ladies tee on #17. They are happy to liase with us as to which Ladies` tee boxes we consider our priority.
There are a number of other maintenance and upgrade possibilities that they will be attending to during the season and the practice area falls within this scope. The main impact will be when they replace #9 green, at which time we will have a temporary green in place. This could coincide with our Club Championships, and although it may cause a slight disruption to the Ladies, in particular, we need to be mindful that certain works need to be done at times when the best weather conditions apply. To date they have not identified which greens will be replaced after #9.
In connection with the Bunbury Bowl & Classic, the Match Committee are considering a proposal which has been put forward, whereby we will include a Senior division. This will apply to competitors 55 and above. The idea is to attract more Perth based players initially, as there are many players, mainly Perth based, who contest a specific Seniors competition through the season. This competition is played, in nominated events, where competitors gain ranking points dependent on their results. This event is well supported and keenly contested and the organisers are very excited at the prospect of Bunbury adding their support by including an eligible Seniors event in conjunction with the Bunbury Bowl. By including Bunbury in this circuit we will offer an additional event which will afford players the chance to gain further points. We envisage that other Regional Clubs may be encouraged to join this scheme, once the benefits start to flow on from the expected increased in Perth based players taking advantage of the additional event on the calendar. It is a long term project, which we feel could have financial benefits, if marketed correctly.
