Captain’s Report – 12 July 2017
Published on 16th July 2017 in Women's NewsForms for the Bunbury Bowl & Classic have been finalised and sent to all clubs. Thank you to Tami for co ordinating this.
Metropolitan clubs received only one form with information for the Open day as well as the relevant info for the Bowl & Classic.
SW clubs received two separate forms this year, in an attempt to minimise confusion.! The inclusion of the Bowl & Classic as Senior ranking events, is an exciting step forward and we certainly envisage a positive flow on from this in the future.
The Womens` Members Committee look forward to hosting the 51st Bunbury Bowl & Classic on the 19 / 20th August and will certainly appreciate any help from members to facilitate a seamless running of this event.
Unfortunately there has been a clash with the GolfWA run State Foursomes Championships with the Bowl weekend. As our fixture was finalised before GolfWA scheduled the foursomes, there was nothing we could have done to avoid this clash. I have had discussions with GolfWA and hope that future clashes can now be avoided. GolfWA have advised me that they are unable to re schedule the foursomes this year, but assure me that they will be mindful of this next year. I have confirmed with them that we will, in all likelihood, schedule the Bunbury Bowl & Classic on the same weekend next year.
Weather has had an adverse effect recently, with 2 competitions being cancelled due to bad weather conditions.
I am pleased to advise that the succession plan for integrating beginner golfers, who have completed Shani’s LLG program, is closer to being implemented, with an expected start date of 18 July. Shani and Del are liaising in this regard with the help of Maureen and Lorraine. We feel that a positive outcome is definitely going to be achieved, with all parties working closely towards the same objective. The sole purpose of this innovation is to offer new golfers a comfortable and friendly pathway to explore their own potential as golfers, under the guidance of existing members. We are confident this system will be well received by the new golfers and look forward to meeting them. I would like to thank Del, Maureen and Lorraine for the generous offer of their time in agreeing to take on this mentoring task.
The tee off times for Saturday Womens` golf have recently been amended – please note they are 8.00 to 8.40 – on both the 1st and the 10th tee.
