Where did that two and a half months go?! With 3 Gold Letter events already played it has been the “Scotty Davey Show” for the past two. Congratulations to all the winners:

Australia Day Classic – Sponsored by Bunbury Holden.

Winners: Men – Prathap Kaliarj Women – Tricia Trevaskis

Summer Cup – Sponsored by Key Location.

Winner – Scotty Davey

Leschenault Classic – Sponsored by Terry Veale.

The Opening Day (Sponsored by Past President’s) has been run and won with mother & son team Zelda & Rangi Meads coming out on top. All had a good time with 92 players in the field and 60+ in the clubhouse afterwards for presentations and dinner. Dave Lamont had the honour of hitting the 1st ball of the season for his tireless work around the club with the involvement in the Teachers competition and the introduction of new members to the club.

Our next Gold Letter event coming up is the Centenary Cup – 36 holes of Stroke, sponsored by Readyforce Personnel, this event is less than 2 weeks away, so get your entry in early as spots are filling fast.

With Easter fast approaching (and the Gold Letter Easter Cup) and the season officially open and cricket season done and dusted it is time to get back onto our wonderful golf course for a game or 2.

Did you know that you can now book a golf lesson with Shani Waugh Golf School online.

R&A and the United States Golf Association made a major announcement on proposed changes to modernise the Rules of Golf.  The announcement includes an explanation of each of the 30 major proposed changes.

Details of the announcement are available from the following page of the Golf Australia website – www.golf.org.au/modernisation

This Golf Australia webpage provides access to all of the following information:

  • The R&A’s media release.
  • An overview document which explains the process and the key changes.
  • A document containing one page summaries of the key changes.
  • A document that provides additional information in the form of “Frequently Asked Questions”.
  • A full draft of the new Rules.
  • The R&A’s on-line feedback survey.

The South West Open is less than 3 months away. Last year over 90 people volunteered their time to help out at the event. Please start thinking about whether you can be involved this year.

Happy Golfing
