PRESIDENT REPORT
Published on 17th December 2018 in Members NewsDear Members,
Congratulations to all involved with the success of the recent 70th Anniversary Dinner. Overall it was a fantastic night with great food, entertainment and service. With over 180 people in attendance the clubhouse was certainly full but not overcrowded.
Friday nights are still popular and as the weather improves and the days get longer the deck is the place to be seen as the sun goes down. Plenty of golf options also on Friday so there is no excuse not to be there.
The club AGM was held during November and I would like to thank the outgoing Board for their contributions. Special mention must be made of Warren Mezger, the retiring club President who is having a well-earned break from Board duties after 5 years of dedicated service. I also welcome the new Board and look forward to a good year ahead.
There have also been some important club events over the last two months. The Ladies Club Championships being decided, the Punchbowl, Castieau Classic with 152 players, BGC Closing Day, Volkswagen Scramble with 140 players and the Junior Club Championships. Coming up in January is the Junior Open and on the long weekend is the Bethanie Australia Day Classic which is sure to attract a good field.
This quarter the grounds team took delivery of a new Toro Workman utility and new tractor to bolster the equipment used on the course. The greens are recovering from the heavy core and No. 12 green has been replaced and is looking good. In December all the fairways will be cored which will enable them to become even better than they are now. This should set us up for the year ahead.
It is pleasing to welcome Tay as the new Bar Manager and Libby has increased her hours and taken on Event Planning as well as her Finance role. We will provide support to both to ensure they succeed in these new roles.
Mark Alderdice continues to improve our product range over at the shop and members should check our stock and pricing as we will price match for most items.
I take this opportunity to wish all members, staff and families a happy and safe Christmas and New Year period and I hope to see you all back on the fairways in the new year.
Mark Thomas
