If I could clarify for members the purpose of our $20 Voluntary Donation.
Eight years ago Golf WA asked Clubs to help fund Junior Golf in WA. Some Clubs elected to participate whilst others didn’t. The Bunbury Golf Club chose to participate and each year this notification requesting a voluntary donation had been attached to the subscriptions.
Over the years there has been much feed back to the Club querying whether our Club juniors receive many benefits from these donations or do most of the benefits go to Perth Clubs. After discussions between our General Manager, Director of Finance, the Finance Committee and others it was felt that we should split this donation, sending half to the WA Golf Foundation and keeping the other half to look after our own juniors’ interests.
What will happen is that monies collected will go into a “”Junior Development”” account that will be managed by the club. People wishing to access that money will apply to do so. Any member or group can apply. For example I might apply to install bench seats on the driving range so that when juniors are being coached they can sit down, or there may be an application for the club to purchase more junior golf sets that our juniors can borrow, or Shani may apply to ask for funds for a golf camp. If the Club believes the application has merit then money will be allocated to that idea.
Application forms and guidelines to access these grants are still being developed and these will be made available to the membership.
