Presidents Report
Published on 6th December 2016 in Members NewsTo all Members,
I would like to thank all those members who attended our AGM on 28th November and also say what an honour it is
to be endorsed as the President of this great club. I am really excited about the challenges and opportunities that lie
ahead and am confident our club will continue to grow. I also welcome new Board members Brad Whelan as our
new Vice President, Brad Grinter as our new Captain, and Damian Peacock as Director of House & Social. These
people together with seasoned campaigners Tami Mepham (Ladies President), Mark Thomas (Director of Finance),
Mandi Willcocks (Director of Membership) and Daniel Tyler (Director of Grounds) will endeavour to progress our
club in the direction that we have adopted in the last couple of years. In the forthcoming weeks some of the
Directors will be seeking people to join their respective committees. If you feel you have something to offer and
keen to get involved and work for your club please make yourself available. On behalf of all members I would like to
thank Grant as outgoing Captain, Glenn as outgoing Vice Captain and Darryl as outgoing Director of House and
Social.
The Board will have a busy year ahead with issues about Governance Training, changes to our Constitution and By
Laws, a review of our Development Plan, the Building Upgrade amongst many other things that will be examined.
The year has been very successful for our Club. Congratulations to our Club Champions, Danny Ennor, Annette Coote
and Tristan Geerlings and I would also like to congratulate all our Pennant Teams for representing the Club with
distinction.
The Castieau Classic weekend turned out to be very successful and all participants had a great time. The dinner on
Saturday night catered by Elite was outstanding. Thanks very much to Barney from Gina’s Homecare for his
continued support for this event. This year’s winners were Gary and Marie Robins with outstanding scores of 49 and
48 in a 4BBB from Wanneroo Golf Club. They have vowed to return next year with a stronger contingent from
Wanneroo to defend their trophy.
The $100 Club Upgrade Raffle evening was another outstanding event. I would like to thank Raymond W and JJ for
this initiative which raised about $11 500 for the club. Bruce Clapp and his Midways played some terrific music
throughout the evening and an enjoyable night was had by all. Congratulations to Kyle Robson on his win. Following
a review meeting we will be doing the same next year.
Our next Gold Letter event is the Australia Day Classic sponsored by Bunbury Holden. Thanks go to Gavin for taking
over sponsorship for this great week of golf. Gavin is sponsoring ALL events from Tuesday through to Sunday. Last
year we had a great field. Let’s start the year off with a great event.
As a Board we welcome all feedback. Please feel free to save the following link and use the SUGGESTION BOX e-mail
address which is suggestionbox@bunburygolfclub.com.au to pass on your thoughts. Each suggestion will be
responded too.
On behalf of the Board I would like wish all of our members and employees a Merry Christmas and a happy New
Year.
