Vale Roger Houghton

Published on 17th December 2024 in Members News

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Roger Houghton at the age of 87. Roger, a cherished member of our club since March 1968, lived a life marked by passion, camaraderie, and an enduring love for the game of golf.

Over his remarkable 56-year tenure at our club, Roger contributed much more than just his skills on the course. He served as the Captain of the Scroungers in 1982-1983 and proudly lifted the Easter Cup in 1980, his triumph forever etched in our club’s history.

Roger’s commitment, spirit, and infectious enthusiasm for golf made him a beloved figure among members and staff alike. His stories, laughter, and friendly rivalry will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.

As we reflect on his many years at our club, we are grateful for the memories and the legacy of being a 50+ year member of our club. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.

Members are invited to attend his funeral service, which will be held on Thursday, 19th December at 2:00 PM.

The service will take place at William Barrett & Sons Chapel, located at 9 Spencer Street, Bunbury.
