President’s Update – March

The Board was sad to receive the resignation of long serving grounds curator Michael Newman after 12 and a half years with BGC. This will be a challenge to replace a person of his qualities and experience however we wish Michael all the best for the future and thank him for his service.
By all reports the holding of the 2024 Leschenault Classic sponsored by Terry Veale was another successful weekend on 2-3 March for golf with many visitors and members participating. The condition of the golf course was up to its best and we received many compliments about the course, our facilities and the hospitality provided over the weekend. Well done to Des and his entire team. Also special mention to all the volunteers who support our staff at such events.
Summer applications on fairways has recommenced to ensure the Kikuyu grass remains under control. Specific applications of spraying has seen a good response with the fairways and follow up spraying will be conducted in the Autumn months.
Club Opening day will be held on 16 March with a dinner and presentations. Good luck to all who play on this weekend and throughout the new season.
