Proposed New Competition for Sundays
Published on 22nd August 2022 in Members News
Due to other commitments during the week, some members can only play competitions to challenge their handicap on the weekend. Some Saturday and Sunday competitions do not allow for handicap changes to occur. For example, a 2 person ambrose, foursomes competitions and some “special” team competitions. We propose to trial a competition on Sunday mornings with tee times from 7.30am to 7.46am initially, which will provide three timeslots on each side (front and back tees).
We are hoping that this new competition (Sunday Leisure?) will not take players (particularly players without golfing partners), away from our Sunday Mixed as most people look forward to interacting in the various comps provided there.
Juniors: The juniors will have time slots available from 8am to 9.30am until end of September (Winter period), then from 8am to 9am for the Summer period. Groups wanting to play socially (public or club members) can access the course from 9.30 am to 10 am for social play. These social groups, if playing 18 holes, should have crossed over in time for the Sunday Mixed Competition to hit off as usual.
DETAILS:
The starting date is Sunday 18th September and the competition will continue if it receives support.
The cost will be as per standard costs based on your membership status.
The time sheet will reflect this change and the new competition will be managed by our Match committee, together with the pro-shop staff. Club credits will be awarded based on the number of players on the day.
It must be remembered that on occasions, such as “Gold Letter” events, pennants etc those events will take priority over our existing weekend competitions.
Finally, our 9 hole competition on Saturday mornings is open to all playing members who may only have time to play 9 holes. These will be handicapped as well.
